My daughter's report was that, unlike on Royal Caribbean, the youth staff didn't set time limits on video game use, so certain kids would "hog" the Nintendo Switches and she could never play the games. (One of these video game hogs was likely her older brother ....) MSC Cruises' promotional material boasts about its partnership with Lego, and she reported that there were always Legos available for free play and she enjoyed that. It offers free babysitting for 3-and-unders, which is rare in the industry. The rest of the kids club is divided into groups for ages 3 to 6 and 7 to 11 (both my kids fell into that latter group), and tweens and teens are technically separate but shared a hangout space. When I toured the Junior Club where my kids would be on the first day, I saw a bright play space with large windows, two foosball tables and cool electronics like a virtual piano.

Where does MSC Meraviglia sail from?
With a total capacity for 4,363 passengers, MSC Cruises offers a good choice of accommodation options for everyone from budget-conscious families to couples who want to splurge with a stay in the exclusive Yacht Club. The cabins are designed to cater to different budgets and preferences, ensuring that every passenger can find a suitable accommodation option. My cruise was the first part of a two week vacation around Europe, so I purchased the 20 piece laundry package ahead of time for $50 USD. While not cheap, it was my only option for getting laundry done before the second part of my vacation, so I bit the bullet and booked it online before the cruise. One area where I did see a difference was in the main dining room, as there was less conversation with the waiters compared to on an American cruise line. This is simply a difference in European versus American service, and I didn’t mind omitting the small talk.

On the other hand, there are also passengers who have had positive experiences, highlighting the modern ships and diverse itineraries. According to CruiseCritic review ratings, MSC Cruises has the lowest amongst its closest peer cruise lines. This could be a significant issue for passengers who are looking for a quiet and relaxing cruise experience, or something to take into consideration when choosing when to travel with MSC Cruises, perhaps avoiding school breaks. However, some passengers praised the staff for their professionalism and friendliness, indicating that experiences may vary.
The servers worked quickly and were pleasant though not overly friendly. That said, the dining room manager assisted my mother with her food allergies and was amazingly helpful. He would periodically stop by our table to chat or ask if he could help us whenever he saw us around the ship. In search of cheap family cruises myself, I followed the deals to a major but more under-the-radar cruise line, MSC Cruises. Overall, MSC Cruises can indeed be a good cruise line for those seeking a cost-effective, European-style cruising experience.
The kids club had video games and Legos, but 1 kid still wouldn't go
When I checked with guest services, they told me that shouldn't have happened. Although the weather certainly isn't the cruise line's fault, it seems that the ship should be better equipped to deal with situations where passengers are stuck inside. I also thought that, perhaps, the large group booking was a one-off and that it wouldn't be the norm on other sailings.

Is MSC a Good Cruise Line? (Are MSC Cruises Good?)
From an e-bike stunt wheel to roller skating and aerialists, it was one of the most incredible shows I’ve seen at sea yet. Needless to say, I felt as if I got a bad deal, and when I asked about changing to 40 pieces at Guest Services, I was told it wasn’t an option in their computer system. Ultimately, I still got my laundry done, but I had to pick and choose between pieces and wasn’t able to wash all of my clothes.
My kids are still small, so I was able to store most of their stuff in the drawers across from their bunks. But if you have older kids who require more closet space, it might be a pain to have to squeeze by the bed to get anything from the closet. Our standard balcony cabin was nice, and my family of four survived remarkably well in one room for a week, which is reason enough to thank MSC Cruises for a successful vacation. One buffet counter somewhere had a rotating selection of hot lunch dishes, but when I finally found my way there, none of the dishes were labeled. In fact, nothing was labeled anywhere on the buffet, so you just had to guess what you were serving yourself. Hopefully, it's something MSC will rectify, especially for passengers who might have even more stringent dietary requirements than my family.
I definitely experienced a terrible muster drill on one of the first sailings of Carnival Sunrise, when the crew was new and working out the passenger flow of the upgraded ship. In addition to lower prices on drinks were lower cover charges at specialty restaurants. I’m used to paying between $50-60 for dinner at specialty restaurants on a cruise ship, so I often refrain from the specialty dining venues in favor of complimentary venues. With 11 restaurants on board MSC Seascape, you'll have a cornucopia of choices.
Very few tables about too so you lose your seat if you get up to get a drink…Unless you pay extra, won’t get out anywhere near others in your group. This package is for adults 21 and older and includes drinks up to $12 each. It’s valid onboard including the specialty restaurants and at Ocean Cay.
It doesn’t feel like anyone there knows what they are doing, I have been told conflicting information by different members of staff and had some of the most useless and unhelpful responses I have had from any company. I would strongly advise you book your cruise with another company. MSC Cruises might not be the most well-known brand in the industry, but it is still one of the biggest cruise lines, with plans to expand even more. If you purchase your package onboard, you’ll be charged a 15% service fee on top of the package price. If 1 person buys a drink package, everyone else in that stateroom also needs to purchase a package. This package includes drinks from the minibar and room service as well.

Drinks are limited to what's on the Kaito-specific menu (Japanese beer, whisky and sake, plus a small selection of wine by the glass and Champagne by the bottle). I must also mention some weird food-related practices I saw on board. Both times I ate at the Marketplace Buffet, I witnessed crew members stopping adults from taking food from a particular section of kid-friendly foods. "No, those are for children only," a crew member behind the counter told a parent who was trying to grab dessert for his son, who was outside by the pool. When I arrived, lines snaked outside the terminal and down the sidewalk in front of the building.
There are 5 levels of membership that offer perks based on points earned. You’ll earn points each time you cruise, book an onboard service, and make onboard purchases. Complimentary dining onboard an MSC ship consists of main restaurants and an extensive buffet.
We did find and attend one event meant for the entire family — a cupcake-decorating deck party. It ended up being chaotic, with long lines for the frosting bags (which were more for decoration than for taste, as we discovered), plus a raffle for which we had no idea how to get tickets. I'd take a little more organization over poor-tasting fanciful confections any day. There was no miniature golf, which is a fun, free family activity found on a lot of other big ships. If there was shuffleboard on Seashore, I never found it; my kids are oddly fond of that game.
